Money & Martinis are for tipping and sipping!
Sipping and tipping was the evening’s main activity at Stroudsburg’s Liquid Martini Bar last Thursday. As KNBT Stroudsburg branch manager Holley Kearns spoke about credit card debt, the women who braved the sultry heat outdoors sipped on concoctions such as apple-tinis, chocolate-tinis and wine for wimps like me. Our first Money & Martinis event was unanimously proclaimed a smash hit! Pun Intended.
Holley spoke briefly about checking our credit scores at www.annual credit report.com and informed us that our score should be at least 600 for us not to be concerned . She also reminded us to get rid of those credit cards that we haven’t used in a while -unless it is a major credit card that you have had in your possession for many years. In that case, it would be a good idea to charge a little something on that good old card and establish or raise your credit rating — once you pay the bill, that is. Her suggestions were also well taken on how to create good debt, over bad debt. Good debt actually helps to build our credit rating – like buying a home, for instance. or borrowing money for a college education. Bad debt is all that junk we buy at the mall. Again, being able to pay for it all is key.
As Holley kept tipping us about affairs of the purse, we continued to sip and sigh and think about how to put her words into action in our own lives. That is, after we taste the french bread dip..
